Grads:

The grad. school contacted me because only one MA student has applied
for fall graduation. If you plan on graduating in the fall, please
submit the Master’s Graduation Application form (which can be found at
the link below) right away (technically, the deadline has passed, but
the grad. school will still process applications if you submit them in
the next day or so.

Department Conference Funding Annoucement

This message from Dr. Bohte:

Due to the economic climate, the College has put strict limits on funding for travel (for both faculty and graduate students). At the present time, the Department is unable to provide travel grants to students presenting papers at conferences.

I’m resending the information about next year’s Midwest conference. Chicago is a cheap option, especially if you take the train and just stay for the day you’re presenting your research.

Welcome Meeting for 1st year & new students + Department meeting

PSGSA will hold it’s welcome meeting for 1st year and incoming students on Friday, Sept. 4th at 11am in Bolton Hall Room 609.

In addition, the Political Science Department will hold its orientation meeting on Friday, Sept 11th at 11am followed by snacks at noon (usually pretty good stuff… the food, I mean.

The Fall semesterfor TAs begins Monday, August 24th. All nedepartment TAs should attend the 2 day orientation On Monday from 8am until 4pm and Tuesday, August 25th from 8am until noon, both in the Lubar Business Building (on Maryland Avenue, just pass the Student Union). Anyone with questions can email tyburski@uwm.edu.

Look for updates on the new department member orientations with members of the faculty, a welcome meeting from the PSGSA, and the first group meeting coming in early September.

The 2009 Marquette UWM Conference is not associated with WIPSA. In addition, the conference planned for April 24th may be pushed back until Fall 2009 in order to organize a full WIPSA conference. Consider the call for papers frozen until further notice

With the end of the Spring 2009 semester, most UWM grad students and many professors will be away from their offices and desks. If you are entering your first year and have questions about PSGSA, coming to UWM, finding places to stay, etc feel free to email me, the webmaster at tyburski@uwm.edu. I will be in New York until June 26th, but I will be on email everyday and can point you in the right direction.
